Dear Reader,The Cancer Awareness Coalition, Inc. was started in 1994 by the Cates Family of New Paltz, NY, to serve the public as an informational and educational organization. "We believe an ounce or prevention is worth a pound of treatment."
The mission of the CAC is - to raise public awareness about the health risks associated with pesticides and other environmental toxins - to encourage growers, homeowners, and others to use more natural products - and to promote legislation designed to protect public health. To that end the CAC
The CAC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that depends on donations to cover expenses for printing, copying, postage and operation. It is our hope that this web page will broaden your understanding of environmental health risks, empower your decision making, and motivate you to be a more conscientious consumer and health advocate.

- joined the First and Second World Conf on Breast Cancer in Canada (1997,1999)
- networks with numerous grassroots organizations around the country
- attends local and state meetings with the Dept. of Health, Dept. of Environmental Conservation, Health Science Research Board
- works with local and state initiatives to promote measures that benefit public health, including the school environment
- collects and disseminates a variety of literature to empower the consumer
- has prepared a health questionnaire for use by residents concerned about the health profile of their neighborhood
